Established over twenty five years ago Ram & McRae, formerly Christopher L. Ram & Company has distinguished itself in the field of professional services both in Guyana and abroad. Ram & McRae has secured a premier place in the provision of taxation services. We offer the business sector a unique set of the Consolidated Tax Laws of Guyana and several other publications including our Value-Added Tax and Excise Tax Handbook.

  • Business Valuation - undertaking business valuations for the purpose of estate planning, shareholder insurance coverage, litigation support, loan applications and real estate lease or acquisition.
  • Corporate Services - advise and assist in the preparation and filing of statutory documents and returns of external companies and incorporation and liquidation of companies in Guyana. We can act as company secretary and legal representative in such matters.
  • Personnel Consultancy - We can avail ourselves to provide professional general advice and services to management and staff. These would include statutory compliance, banking and financial arrangements, work permits, registration with statutory authorities, etc.
  • Management Consultancy - System evaluation and design, cash management, implementation of budget and cost control mechanisms, dividend policy recommendations and share valuations.
Our Leaders

Christopher L. Ram, FCCA, ACMA, ACIS, LLB, LEC
Educated in London, Christopher returned to Guyana in 1974 where he began his career as an audit senior with Pannell Fitzpatrick before moving onto Grenada and Barbados where he initially worked with Coopers and Lybrand. In 1980 he became a consultant to the Government of Grenada and was attached to the Ministry of Finance. He served as Chairman of Grenada’s National Insurance Board and as Finance Director of the Grenada Electricity Corporation.

Following the 1983 coup d'état, Christopher returned to Guyana where in 1985 he founded the firm; then known Christopher L. Ram and Company. He has remained Managing Partner ever since.

Christopher has served on several accountancy bodies in Guyana, the Caribbean and the United Kingdom. He authors a business page and previously hosted a television programme, Plain Talk, both on a weekly basis.

Christopher also completed his Bachelor’s degree in Law at the University of Guyana and obtained his legal eduction certificate from the Hugh Wooding Law School in Trinidad & Tobago. He was admitted to the Guyana Bar in 2009.

Robert V. McRae, CPA, BSc., FLMI
Robert is a citizen of the United States of America where he currently manages his own practice. He obtained his Bachelors degree at Brooklyn College and soon after became a Certified Public Accountant.

Robert has extensive experience in the insurance and accounting industries, having worked with several insurance companies and accounting firms. He manages his own CPA practice in New York and remains a valuable contributor to the firm.

Robert became a partner of the firm in 1992.

Rakesh V. Latchana, FCCA
Rakesh completed his studies to become a Chartered Accountant in Trinidad and Tobago after spending three and a half years with a chartered accounting firm in Guyana. He completed the final examinations of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) at the age of 20 and became a member several months later, becoming one of the youngest Guyanese to have attained this distinction.

In that process he earned an award for being the top Guyanese graduate at the December 1998/June 1999 ACCA examination sessions and placing 25th in the world amongst approximately 7,200 students in the December 1998 final level examination session of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

Rakesh was admitted to the partnership on January 1, 2006 becoming one of the youngest practising members in Guyana. He has over seventeen years experience, including thirteen in a management role in the firm and is responsible mainly for the management of the firm's audit function.

Rakesh also serves on the Technical Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Guyana.
