Guyana Business
Outlook Survey 2002
Ram & McRae,
Chartered Accountants, Professional Services Firm is pleased to present
the findings of its Annual Business Outlook Survey for the Year 2002.
This year's Survey, the eighth of its kind, includes the responses
from forty-three companies of varying sizes, organisational cultures and
products/services offered.
The focus of the Report is of course on the future, but to the extent
that a comparison with Outlook 2001 is considered relevant we have
commented briefly on any striking changes or similarities. Our Report is
designed with the Guyana economy in mind. It tracks issues and trends
that affect Guyanese businesses - including the level of business
confidence, globalisation, the state of the economy, the compulsory land
acquisition issue and the Investment Code. The Report also looks at the
social and political dimension of the economy including issues such as
crime and the thawing of relationship between the leaders of the
country's two major political parties.
We take the opportunity to thank those companies that devoted time to
share their views with us and by extension with their counterparts. We
hope this Report compensates for their efforts by offering useful
insights for the year 2002.
The Report does not include a copy of the Questionnaire to which the
participating companies have responded. Both the Report and
Questionnaire are available to the business community and politicians as
well as members of the general public and may be uplifted from our
Office on Waterloo Street.
We welcome any suggestions on how future surveys may be made more
useful.
